About Us

EQ is the latest milestone in the saga of one of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic hospitality names. The original Hotel Equatorial opened in 1973, and quickly gained an international reputation as a premier five-star destination. Hotel Equatorial closed its doors in 2012 to make way for a bigger, better, all-new successor. Seven years later, a magnificent new 52-storey tower has taken its place, and with it a new name, reflecting a new era in sophisticated urban accommodation. Situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s famed Golden Triangle, EQ is the centrepiece of the new Equatorial Plaza, downtown’s prestigious new business address.

EQ’s 440 Guestrooms and Suites are all luxuriously appointed and feature impressive city views from every vantage point.

The Infinity Pool and Sky51 on the 51st Floor are sure to be the talk of the town. And EQ will also feature a bespoke spa & wellness centre.

EQ is also re-introducing another fine tradition as a culinary hub for both fine and casual dining, offering six restaurants and bars, including the return of the multi-award winning Kampachi Japanese restaurant.

Business functions and special events are another EQ forte, featuring ten meeting and banquet rooms. And to make any special event truly shine, there is the imposing 1,025 sq. metres Diamond Ballroom and Gallery.

Kuala Lumpur comprises a fascinating blend of gleaming skyscrapers and modern shopping complexes along with many fine examples of colonial architecture, as well as landmark structures such as KL Tower and the Petronas Twin Towers. Like the country itself, Kuala Lumpur, or “KL” as it is known locally, is a vibrant mix of cultures, races and religions. It even boasts its own Chinatown and “Little India”. KL offers a myriad of dining and entertainment options, cultural attractions, and beautiful parks showcasing the lush tropical landscape. While Malaysia’s federal administrative capital is located 45 minutes south in Putrajaya, KL remains the country’s commercial and financial hub, as well as its largest city, with a population of 1.8 million.
