About Us

EQ is the latest milestone in the saga of one of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic hospitality names. The original Hotel Equatorial opened its doors in 1973, and gained its reputation as a premier five-star destination. Hotel Equatorial later closed its doors in 2012 for redevelopment, and reopened in March 2019, to make way for a bigger, better, all-new successor.

The new EQ is a magnificent 52-storey tower that has taken its place in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s famed Golden Triangle. It is the centrepiece of the new Equatorial Plaza, which offers 440 Guestrooms and Suites with impressive panoramic city views.

EQ’s 440 Guestrooms and Suites are all luxuriously appointed and feature impressive city views from every vantage point.

For business functions and special events, EQ provides ten meeting and banquet rooms, as well as the 1,025 sq. metre Diamond Ballroom and Gallery. On level 29 is an entire floor dedicated to fitness and wellness, which includes the Sanctum gym and spa, the 25-metre infinity pool, a large vitality pool and the Himalayan salt sauna. Sky51 on the 51st floor features Sabayon, a restaurant offering contemporary European cuisine, and Blue, an open-air rooftop bar and lounge.

DESTINATION

Kuala Lumpur comprises a fascinating blend of gleaming skyscrapers and modern shopping complexes along with many fine examples of colonial architecture, as well as landmark structures such as KL Tower and the Petronas Twin Towers. Like the country itself, Kuala Lumpur, or “KL” as it is known locally, is a vibrant mix of cultures, races and religions. It even boasts its own Chinatown and “Little India”. KL offers a myriad of dining and entertainment options, cultural attractions, and beautiful parks showcasing the lush tropical landscape. While Malaysia’s federal administrative capital is located 45 minutes south in Putrajaya, KL remains the country’s commercial and financial hub, as well as its largest city, with a population of 1.8 million.

TRAVELLER TIPS

Major credit cards such as Mastercard, Visa, JCB and American Express are accepted at EQ and other major hotels, restaurants and department stores.
